Wild Dunes Resort interactive map
Wild Dunes Resort is situated at the north end of the beautiful Isle of Palms, just north of Charleston.
Just off the island is the Mount Pleasant area which boasts a wide range of shopping and dining options together with local attractions such as Boone Hall Plantation, used in the TV mini series ‘North and South’ and Patriot’s Point Naval museum which features a World War II aircraft carrier and a cold war submarine. From Patriot’s Point you can also book a boat trip to Fort Sumter where the first shots were fired in the US Civil War.
Downtown Charleston
This beautiful and historic city boasts a lively, cosmopolitan mix of bars, restaurants, shops and attractions including historic homes, cobbled streets, colonial architecture and gardens. The waterfront area offers breathtaking views of Charleston Harbour.
It is a relatively compact city and downtown parking is reasonable so you can drive into Charleston, around 30 minutes from Wild Dunes, and explore on foot.
Other area attractions
Outside the city there are a number of historical attractions. Along a short stretch of the Ashley River Road, perhaps 20 minutes or so outside the city centre you will find Drayton Hall, Magnolia Plantation, which incorporates the Audubon Swamp Garden and Middleton Place. So whether you are a nature lover or history buff these are well worth a visit.
